What's JetPhoto?

JetPhoto Studio is a feature-rich and easy-to-use digital photo software, that enables photographers to organize, edit and share photos flexibly. With JetPhoto Studio, user can create professional Flash or web galleries, geo-tag photos with GPS and send photos to mobile phones as well as publish photo albums to internet.

JetPhoto Studio contains both Windows and Mac versions, which are two platform-native software with same features.


System requirements

JetPhoto Studio for Windows

- Operating System: Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7
- CPU: PIII800 or higher
- RAM: 256M or higher
- HDD: 1G or more free space
- Video: supports millions color display

JetPhoto Studio for Mac OS X

- Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5 or 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
- CPU: PowerPC G4/G5 or Intel
- RAM: 512M or higher
- HDD: 1G or more free space
- Video: supports millions color display

 

Album storage

JetPhoto Studio stores photos in album packages. Actually, each album package is one folder with a specified structure which contains the original digital photo files and the metadata saved in a XML file. And important, each album folder must have a .album extension (suffix) in its filename.

For the Mac OS X users, the album package is displayed as a document icon, which JetPhoto Studio opens by double-click action in Finder file browsing window;

For the Windows users, the album package is a folder that has a special icon and a .album extension filename. User can browse album folders with Windows Explorer or Album Manager. JetPhoto Studio opens the album by clicking right mouse button and choosing context menu item 'Open with JetPhoto' when select an album in Windows Explorer file browsing window. In the same way, now user can even open any general folder contains photo files as an album by choosing context menu item 'Open as a JetPhoto album' when select a general folder in Explorer window. Album Manager is a built-in module of JetPhoto Studio for Windows, that can also help users to browse, manage and open photo albums saved on disks. Choose menu item 'File'->'Open Album' to launch Album Manager in JetPhoto Studio.

 

Create new album

There are two ways to create new album on Mac:

1) Activate JetPhoto Studio, choose menu item 'File'->'New Album', name the new album and set its location in the file system.
2) Activate Finder, create a new folder with postfix '.album' in any Finder window.

1) Activate JetPhoto Studio, choose menu item 'File'->'New Album', name the new album and set its location in the file system.
2) Activate Album Manager in JetPhoto Studio, choose the location where the new album is saved, and name the new album.

 

Convert folder to album

There are two ways to convert folder to album on Mac:

1) Activate JetPhoto Studio, choose menu item 'File'->'Convert Folder to Album', select a folder contains photo files in the file system.
2) Activate Finder, select the folder that need to be converted in any Finder window, add a postfix '.album' for this folder.

There are two ways to convert folder to album on Windows:

1) Activate JetPhoto Studio, choose menu item 'File'->'Convert Folder to Album', select a folder contains photo files in the file system.
2) Open Album Manager in JetPhoto Studio, select the folder that need to be converted in Album Browser. Click mouse right button, choose context menu item 'Convert Folder to Album'.

 

Album window layout

At first look, JetPhoto Studio has a simple window to view the album, and browse digital photos in thumbnails. The extra panel is a side panel enclosed to the main album window. For the Mac OS X version, the side panel looks like as a drawer, so sometimes calls the panel as extra drawer in this document.

The album window usually contains a couple of tabbed view pages to present photos and edit album contents. Example, the photo thumbnails of this album can be browsed in Thumbnail view page, the full-view photo can be shown in Detail view page, and album information can be edited in Album page. User can click on tabs to switch pages shown in album window.

Album page
Show and set the title, short name and description for the current album.

Thumbnail page
Browse all photo thumbnails contained in the current album.

Detail page
Display the current photo in full-view.
Press and hold left mouse button to apply the magnifier to observe the picture details.

Map page
Display a map on which locate, track and browse photos.

Actions page (Mac only)
Collect all importing, creating, sharing and publishing action buttons.

 

Extra panel
There are a couple of tabbed panels in the side panel, such as Information panel, Notes panel and Calendar panel. Click the small button with >> icon in the top bar of the album main window to show or hide the extra panel.

Information panel
Show and edit photo properties, such as File Name, Camera Model, Aperture, Capture Date and Location.

Notes panel
Show and edit descriptions, keywords (tags) and stars for photos.

Calendar panel
Show a calendar interface helps user to review photos by time.

Geotag panel
Locate photos with map or GPS,
Show the location of current photo on a map.

Edit panel (Mac only)
Collect image cropping, adjusting, enhancing, effects action buttons.

 

Action buttons
And, there is an apparent difference between the layouts of JetPhoto Studio Windows version and JetPhoto Studio Mac version. Windows version collects all action buttons in toolbars of Thumbnail view page and Detail view page. But there is no corresponding toolbars in album windows of Mac version. Instead, Mac version collects all importing, creating, sharing and publishing action buttons in Actions page of the album window, and collects editing action buttons in Edit panel of the extra drawer.

Basic operations

Navigate photos
- Click two arrow buttons in top-left corner of the album window, or press arrow keys (left-right or up-down keys) to switch current photo for display.

Select photos in Thumbnail view
- Click one photo item to select one.
- Hold Command key (or Ctrl key) and click some separate photo items to multi-select them.
- Hold Shift key and click two photo items to have a block selection for the photos inter these two items.

Change photo display order
- Drag and drop selected photos to the new position in Thumbnail view.
- Choose menu items under 'Edit'->'Arrange Photos' to sort photo items by Capture Time or File Name.

Delete photos
- Select photos in Thumbnail view, or switch photo in Detail view.
- Choose menu item 'Edit'->'Move to Trash' (or 'Edit'->'Delete') to delete the selected photo items.

Slide show (full-screen)
- Choose menu item 'Create And Share'->'Slide Show' to start full-screen presentation.
- Press Space bar, or double click mouse to switch presentation mode, Auto Play Mode or Manual Play Mode.
- Auto Play Mode: switch slides by timer control.
- Manual Play Mode: Press arrow keys or click mouse to switch next or back.
- Press Esc key to exit full-screen presentation.
